__________&behindthescenes.
Your Name: sarah Age: sixteen Email: pm is fine RP Experience: four to five years RP Example:
Quote:The sixteen year old sat one of the zoo's benches in front of the five elephants. She had always liked the animals. Found them sensible in a world that felt like it was falling a part at the seams. Whenever you looked into their eyes--as the junior was doing at that moment--you could see sweet thoughts. And all Roxy needed right now was sweet thoughts. So that why the girl sat contently, hands stuffed into her black zip up hoodie pockets. The falls chill had started to sink in, and she knew it wouldn't be long before the huge animals would be taken in. She wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. Watching them from a web cam didn't beat simply being there with them. And the fact she was hoping to see the same boy again.
The girl had been stressed since the beginning of the year. She didn't even know why, So that's when she decided to watch the elephants. Roxy used to visit them every week for a month, but after a while she got busy with school , and so she decided to just watch them from home most of the time with the zoo's webcam. The junior got in the habit of just leaving the screen up when she wasn't using the computer. And that's when she had seen the boy.
The elephant site was up on her computer right then, when she saw the boy. Roxy was stretched out on her bed and the elephants were cruising around on the screen. The sixteen year old's room's on the second floor of the Skye's townhouse, and if you lie there and look out the window, all you see is sky. Backlit cotton candy clouds in a lava-lamp sky. She was just lying there thinking lazy, hazy cloudlike thoughts when Roxy had decided to sit up and the computer caught her attention. The outdoor cam was on, which included a view of the elephants' sprawling natural habitat. Chai was there with baby Hansa, and they were both rooting around in a pile of hay. But what Roxy noticed was a flash of color, red, and she stop, same as a fish stops at the flash of a lure underwater.
The red -- it's a jacket. A boy's jacket. When the outdoor cam is on, you can see part of the viewing area, too, and the people walking through it. At first it's this great big voyeuristic thrill to realize you can see people who are unaware that you're watching them from your bedroom. But trust me, the people get boring soon enough.
But this time, the red jacket compeled the girl to watch. And she noticed this guy, and he had a baby in a backpack. The thing is, he was young. And that brought a bunch of questions up inside her. But the thing she noticed was there was an ease between them. Nature has given them a rightness with each other. What kept her were the questions, his story.
You pass a bunch of people in a day -- people in their cars, in the grocery store, waiting for their coffee at Starbucks. Each person has their own story going on right then, with its cast of characters; they've got their own frustrations and their happiness. And sometimes, you have this little feeling of knowing, this fuzzy, gnawing sense that someone will become a major something in your life. You just know that theirs will be a life you will enter and become part of. Roxy felt that sense, that knowing when she looked at that boy.
He stood up and the baby did something that made the junior laugh. He grabbed a chunk of the boy's hair in each of his hands, yanked the boy's head back. The baby thought it was a real crack-up, and started to laugh. He put his open mouth down to the boy's head in some baby version of a kiss. The boy's head was tilted to the sky. He reached his arms back and unclenchesd the baby's fingers from his hair. But once he was free, he kept his chin pointed up, just keeps staring up above. He watched the backlit cotton candy clouds in a lava-lamp sky, and it was then Roxy was sure this was the story she would be part of. |

Character Name: Hayley Mia Baker Nickname(s): Hay, but people just call her Hayley D.O.B: April 15th Age: seventeen. Grade: junior. Orientation: hetrosexual.
__________&letsdigalittledeeper.
Appearance: Hayley has always been concerned with her appearance, sometimes overly concerned, and in her opinion her hard-work has paid off. She isn't conceited in any way at all, but she's not the type of girl who has ever had issues with her body or image whatsoever: she knew that she impressed the right people and everyone else didn't matter. She isn't thick by any means, but she isn't one of those tiny petite girls that seem to be so common these days; she stands at an average height of 5'6, weighing in at a healthy 125lbs. Her curves were inherited from her mother, thankfully: the girl had the classic hourglass figure and didn't really have to work to maintain it.
Those curves were about the only think Hay got from her mother, everything else was a spitting image of her father. Anna Baker always loved to tell her daughter that she was a softer, skinnier version of her father, with those big blue eyes and straight hair. Speaking of eyes, they were such a deep blue color that they were pretty much the first thing you noticed about the girl's face. With a gleam of that natural adventure she possessed, those eyes were most definitely windows to her every emotion: you could always tell whether or not she was happy or sad by looking at her eyes. Those locks once naturally blonde have had many dye jobs over the years. Swithing from black, to a brunette to a red head.
She had nice white, straight teeth: so she should as her parents spent thousands of dollars early on in the girl's life for braces. A light dusting of freckles and cute dimples on either side of her lips kept a sense of innocence about the girl's appearance, something she hated.
Clothing Style: Her style was fairly simple, hoodies, jeans, dress shirts. Anything she can find in her closet really. You can easily say that Hay does put a lot of effort in how she dresses. The seventeen year old has a pretty vintage style, she loved to go shopping at thrifts shops. She loves wearing things she knows no one else owns. In the summer monthes she loves to wear dresses, not mini skirts mind you. Loose summer dresses, they give her an almost childish appearence. But then again Hayley never really grew out of her baby face. Picture:

She's the type that will spill all of the random, meaningless facts about herself so that you won't care to ask for anything deeper, its her way of allowing you to "get to know her" without actually revealing anything she doesn't want you to know. And believe me. There is alot she doesn't want you to know. She's not shy at all, but quiet. She has this thing about sitting back and watching people: you can always tell what kind of person someone is by watching them react in everyday situations. When she's not sitting on the sidelines, though, she hardly ever shuts up. She absolutely loves being around people and joking around, anything for a good time.
Hayley has a reputation of coming off as somewhat rude and cruel. She likes to think of this as a test- if the person has good enough of a funny bone to laugh her sarcasm off, it's bound to lead to the beginning of a beautiful friendship. If they do laugh it off, but not without a comeback, Hay will most likely be intrigued and keep an eye on them. Only the weak or extremely sensitive can take her crude snarkiness as her true nature. After all, Hayley turns a deaf ear to the idea that first impressions are everything
If you want to tell Hayley something, no one else will ever hear a word of it unless you specifically say that she can tell someone. She automatically assumes that everything that even resembles a secret is just that- a secret- and will never crack under pressure to tell. Hay's also incredibly nice, despite her usual icy first impressions. Befriend her and you won't be sorry. Once Hayley has an opinion on something, she stands firm on it. She will argue and debate it until you're tired of her voice- she absolutely hates it when she doesn't get the last word. Hay will also never break a promise. Once you have her word, you keep it- and so does she.
Some people may call it stubborn, but Hayley likes to refer to it as a possible career in politics. While being a tough cookie can be a good thing sometimes, at others, it simply frustrates the other person because they can't get anything through to her. Hay's temper is always near the surface and is very easily lost. This usually causes her to act or speak before she thinks, which in turn causes her to land in rather sticky situations. "I'm sorry" are two words that Hayley finds hard to say, but will repeat it as many times as you want her to if she really wants your forgiveness.
You may call it freakish and borderline insane, but Hay can find the deepest and corniest meanings in even the least meaningful topics, quotes, people, ideas, and objects. This- could it be considered as an ability?- does end up helping her writing, especially when she hits a blank (which is very often, mind you). Also, when Hayley finds something she really wants to do or learn, there's no stopping her once she's put her mind to it.Hay picks up and learns things quickly- at least when she wants to. Otherwise, you could forcefeed her the information through a tube, and at the end of the day, she'd just beat you up into next week because she couldn't hex you since her voice got messed up.
Hayley's mind usually works in overdrive. It never stops, meaning that her brain is filled with words, pictures, and meanings all day. Often, thoughts occur to her so quickly that she cannot put it into words- and when she does, it comes out jumbled or so quickly that it doesn't make any sense. By that time, she would have forgotten what she was saying. She remembers the most useless information, and when it comes down to important facts, Ms. Baker just draws up a blank or fabricates something if she didn't want to look stupid.
The girl doesn't trust anyone, and for good reason. She isn't going to shut you out completely, but you'll never really break past the outer layer unless you give her a real, valid reason to put her faith in you. Those she calls friends are people she feels comfortable around, people she can go to. Until you are called her best friend, you haven't made it into the inner depths of Hayley Baker. However, she is loyal no matter the level of friendship. She's very used to making sacrifices, and wouldn't hesitate to add one more to the list if asked by a friend. She hates seeing people going through hard times and does whatever she can to help them through whatever it is.
Hay is a very hardworking girl. She is determined to get through school and support herself, and hates depending on her parents for help with anything. Basically, she's independent. That's why she hasn't really taken time out for any of that 'love' nonsense; she's afraid that if she becomes dependent on someone for that emotional attachment, they're going to let her down and she'll be left with nothing. She's the only person who she can depend on. She's one of those artsy-fartsy girls: loves painting, music, drawing. Anything expressive. This and her devotion to schoolwork have earned her the title of 'geek', something she basically ignores
likes music love life literature reading sketch book penicel the smell of fresh paper white chocolate boys acoustic guitars basses keyboard nailpolish cameras people who can make her laugh having a good time alchohol getting caught in the rain making her own choices dislikes alcohol sometimes her mother spiders rats nightmares liars cheats card games hot days car games crowded buses Hobbies/Interests: Hayley can be described in the word artistic. Music, sketching, and writing are her life. Though the girl is rather shy about it, she does have a good voice, and used to take vocal lessons when she was younger. But when high school came around she quite. Hay has been taking classical piano since she was five, even when her tiny hands couldn't reach across the keys properly she knew that this was her instrument. Her love. Her life. More often than never you will see the junior with a canon grasped in her tiny hands. She loves to take pictures, and has gotten quite good at it. Photographs of random people, strangers, friends, and moments of their life are plastered across her bedroom walls.
__________&inthebeginning.
Origin: franklin, tenesse, USA History: Hayley started out with the perfect life: a tiny girl born to the wealthy Anna and Keith Baker, greeted by her overjoyed 4 year old brother River. The family was completed in the opinion of Hay's parents: the perfect son and daughter, the perfect careers, the perfect neighborhood to raise their children in. Everything went just perfectly until the year Hayely turned seven. Keith had been a top executive at a local law firm owned by one of his childhood friends, always able to provide more than enough for his family. However, a legal mishap resulted in a lawsuit and the closing of the firm, leaving Keith without a job. Anna was terrified, but Keith saw it as an opportunity to go back to school and get the job he'd always dreamed of having: a police officer. Sure, it wouldn't be the same when it came to income, but Keith would definitely prefer the job to sitting behind a desk all day. Anna cared for River and Hayley many nights on her own while her husband went through school, including the Academy, but was always supportive and proud of her husband. When he finally completed training and got the job he wanted, the family seemed to be back on their feet and happy.
Hay was a happy little girl, always smiling and ready to learn something new. River was her hero: she followed the boy around everywhere, much to his dismay. She thought her mother was the most beautiful woman in the world as most young girls do, and she was definitely a daddy's little girl. She didn't understand why he wasn't around as much before, even though he attempted to explain shift changes and such. She'd always sit up in bed by the window on nights he got called out, hating the way he had to wear that stupid black vest and carry that scary gun. Most of the time she'd fall asleep waiting up for him, but he'd always come in and give his little girl a hug when he finally did return home. One night, however, Keith didn't come home. Hayley wouldn't find out until much later that the ugly vest she hated so much didn't do its job as well as it should have, and he was shot during a high-speed chase. Dead on arrival. The little girl didn't understand what was happening at the funeral, just that her father was gone forever.
You'd think that such an experience would ruin the young girl, but after the 'we have to be strong for mama' speech via her brother River, Hayley decided that she didn't have time to mope around and make things worse for everyone else. She missed her father, definitely, but she had to be strong for her mother. She continued to be the happy, bright little girl she'd always been, but definitely didn't forget her father. She and River had learned to take care of themselves by the time they were 11 and 15; Anna had to take two extra jobs in order to provide for herself and her children. The memory of her father didn't begin haunting her again until junior high, when a group of friends introduced her to the perfect cure to her memories: alcohol. Thus, the drinking began. She was able to keep it under control in the beginning, up until she started high school. Then it came every weekend. Slowly it progressed to every other night, sneaking it into her house as often as possible. With her mother gone and her brother doing his own this, Hayley was left to herself to rid her mind of anything that might bring her down.
Though Hayley may not have been the most popular person at school, alcohol amost instantly maked her the life of a party. She loved that attention, knew she got it for the wrong reasons, but loved and needed it. Eventually, her popularity in the night life caught up with her in school and she was plunged into the life of the 'its.' Now that was a life Hayley could have gotten used to. Sure her family life suffered, and her grades had started plummeting but it was a life of privilage. And it was almost like the people around her cared. Almost. But Anna caught on, and stepped in. Seemed like when Keith died he left a fair bit of money behind, money from his life insurance. But she had been saving it until the family really needed it. The need was Cover Dell. Hayley was shipped of in an attempt to help her regain control of her life. And so far, it's been working.
Family:
River Baker twenty-one.
River has always been the loud, popular guy everyone wants to be friends with. He cares for his little sister, and often shoes up at her dorm with out notice to check up on her. River took the death of his father to heart, and doesn't respect any authority figures.
Anna Baker fourty-five.
Anna is a strong minded women, which is probably where Hayley gets her own stubborness from. She's a hard worker, and holds two jobs in an attempt to support her family. She has lost her parents as a teenager and hoped to give her children everything in the world. But in her mind, she's failing horribly.
Keith Baker deceased. Mr. Baker was what you would want in a father. Loving, and put the needs of his family before himself. Until he was shot to death. Hayley misses him everyday, and never truly got the love of a father.
Anything Else: nope.
